Most of these fitness centers, or gyms, cater for all needs. They therefore carry a big variety of equipment including:</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For all of you Apartmentites out there who fear going to the gym, fear no more.  If your community has a state of the art fitness center (which most of them do), it&#8217;s time for you to take full advantage.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t waste money and time driving to a big expensive gym, when you have everything that you will need to get in shape and stay that way included in the cost of rent and right there in your own community.</p>
<p>I have had several fellow Apartmentites mention that they feel uncomfortable at the BIG GYM with all the greasy people who stare all day and try to impress eachother.  Most apartment fitness centers are NOTHING like this. In fact, many times you will be able to find a nice peaceful workout without anyone else around you.</p>
<p>There are a few simple rules of etiquette that you and your neighbors should follow when working out in your apartment&#8217;s fitness center.</p>
<p><strong>1. Wipe It Down</strong>- Some communities will supply this, but if not, bring a small towel or old cloth with you that you can wipe the machines down when you get done with your work out. Nothing is more gross than getting on a machine, sticking your hands on the handles, and realizing that you just pressed your clean hands on someone else&#8217;s nasty sweat.  So be kind and wipe your machines down.</p>
<p><strong>2. No Body Thinks You&#8217;re Cool</strong> if you are slamming weights around with the loud clang. In fact, they may think that it is more of a nuisance when you make that noise. If you can&#8217;t control it while you lift it, you should take some weight off.  Dropping the weights down do no good for you or anyone else and can even lead to injury.</p>
<p><strong>3.  Replace Your Weights</strong>- Make sure and put the weights back on the rack when you finish working with them. Don&#8217;t just leave them on the floor for someone to trip over.</p>
<p><strong>4. Volume</strong>-  When you get done with your workout and are headed home, make sure you turn the volume down on the television or radio if you were the only one using it.  I&#8217;ve walked into the fitness center a few times to a blasting TV and noone in there. Not fun for my ears.</p>
<p><strong>5. Share</strong>- Remember that you and those around you in the fitness center are all neighbors, so share the weights and machines if need be.  Be kind to your neighbors. Who knows, You might make a good friend!</p>

<p>Joining a fitness center is the beginning of getting into shape but there are some things you need to consider when choosing a fitness center.</p>
<p>Lets face it the choices for fitness center memberships are pretty wide. From expensive gyms that offer racquet ball, cocktail lounges, and full spa facilities to the basic gym that has all the equipment you&#8217;ll ever need but no frills. Choosing can be bit difficult. Thankfully you tell a lot before you ever buy that membership.</p>
<p>The way to choose a fitness center is based on your fitness goals. What do you want to achieve and how do you achieve that? Consider what it is you want to work on. Do you need free weights? Aerobic classes? Cardio equipment? Look for a gym that can meet your needs. If you aren&#8217;t sure what your fitness goals are then you need to meet with a personal trainer.</p>
<p>When you&#8217;ve lined up a fitness center that appears to fit you needs pay a visit. If there is more than one than pay a visit to all of them. Learn what equipment they have to offer, what additional services they have, what the hours are. Meet the staff, see what you think of them, and take a tour of the club.</p>
<p>Find out as much information as you can and if you decide to join the fitness center and make sure you ask about:</p>
<p>1. Location and hours. Is the fitness center near your home or work place? Is the facility open during the time period that you plan to exercise? During what times is the facility most crowded?</p>
<p>2. Environment. Will you enjoy spending time in the fitness center? Are the floors, locker rooms, and equipment clean? Is there entertainment available such as televisions or personal music stations?</p>
<p>3. Equipment. Does the fitness center have the equipment you&#8217; want to use? Does the equipment appear to be well maintained and in good shape? Does the facility offer other activities for your health needs or disabilities?</p>
<p>4. Classes. What type of classes does the fitness center offer &#8211; how often? when? Do they limit class sizes?</p>
<p>5. Staff. Are the staff that work at the fitness center friendly? Are they trained in CPR and first aid?  Are there personal trainers available? What type of qualifications do the staff members have?</p>
<p>6. Amenities. Does the fitness center offer convenient parking, sauna, towels, or child care services?</p>
<p>7. Reputation. What do others say about the fitness center?</p>
<p>8. Cost. How much does membership cost at this fitness center? How do their billing cycles run? What are the opt-out policies? Are any additional fees charged for specific amenities?</p>
<p>The more information you can collect on each fitness center that you are interested in the better able you will be to make the right decision for your personal fitness needs.</p>
<p>It is always nice to find a fitness center that will let you try before you buy. Most of the larger chain facilities make these offers but don&#8217;t be afraid to ask at any of the fitness centers if the offer free trial memberships. Visit the fitness center at the same time of day or night that you plan to exercise. This will tell you the availability of the machines, how busy the cardio equipment is and even what the shower facilities look like.</p>
<p>When choosing a fitness center choose the facility that gives you the most value.</p>

A fitness center offers a variety of exercise equipment, weights, swimming, aerobics, and many other activities to get you in shape. Going to a fitness center can be the motivation you need. The key is to participate in fitness exercises you enjoy so that you will look forward to going to the fitness center rather than dreading it and making excuses not to go.</p>
<p>We are all busy, that is just the way of our society. Don&#8217;t let that be your reason for not going to a fitness center. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>How to choose one that’s right for you</p>
<p>Although I’ve worked in fitness centers for over 30 years, in reality, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on expensive health club or fitness center memberships, or the latest fitness center memberships, or the latest fitness equipment, to increase your level of physical fitness.</p>
<p>On the other hand, many people find it difficult to concentrate; say at home, when there are many other distractions.  Also, people sometimes find that making a financial commitment increases their chances of following thru long-term.</p>
<p>Fitness centers are designed, built, and equipped to appeal to a broad range of individuals.  After all, member ship sales pay the bills.</p>
<p>However, not all centers operate in the same manner.  Many require contracts that are legally binding, and require monthly payments, for the length of the contract.  There’s nothing inherently wrong with that scenario, in fact it’s very common.  The point is, if you’re going to sign on the dotted line, it’s important, that the health club you’ve chosen is right for you.</p>
<p>Location</p>
<p>People make all kinds of excuses not to work out, with proximity to home or work very high on the list.  Research has shown that most people won’t travel more than eight miles or eight minutes to work out.  Since an exercise an exercise program requires consistency, a convenient location is a must.</p>
<p>Hours of Operation</p>
<p>If you prefer to exercise at a particular time of day, remember to look closely at the day and hours of operation.   Also, visit the club prior to joining at the time of day you’re most likely to attend.  Is it crowded then?</p>
<p>Equipment and Amenities</p>
<p>With your personal fitness goals in mind, shop around and compare equipment, locker rooms, classes, etc.  How about a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam or sauna?  Are these in good working order?  Have you any interests there?</p>
<p>There should be a wide array of both cardiovascular and strength equipment, as you’ll want to have the opportunity to change your routine periodically, and use different pieces of equipment. That will help keep you interested and motivated.</p>
<p>Cost</p>
<p>Shopping around allows you to compare what you’re getting, to what you’re paying.  Newer clubs with newer equipment, a wide variety of amenities, will probably cost more per month, but you never know, so look around.  I like clubs that charge an all-inclusive monthly fee, that allows you use of the entire facility.  Usually the only additional charge would be for the personal training or massages, which is true everywhere.</p>
<p>Personnel</p>
<p>How were you treated as you looked around?  Did the employees seem attentive to members, helpful and friendly?  If you want to learn a new machine or piece of equipment, is someone available to demonstrate?  You shouldn’t feel uncomfortable asking for assistance in your own club.</p>
<p>While we’re on the topic of fitness center’s employees, pay special attention to the exercise specialists education, experience, and professional certification.  Knowing why to do a particular exercise is just as important as how to perform it.  Also, are they C.P.R. certified, and is an Automatic Defibrillator available, in case of emergency?</p>
<p>Membership</p>
<p>Certain fitness centers attract a specific kind of member.  Bodybuilders are attracted by lots of free weights, as their main purpose in building large muscles.  On the other hand, senior citizens are much more comfortable with selectorized machines, and a good choice of cardiovascular equipment.  These clubs will have a totally different feel, as the business adapts to the majority of its members, and the fitness center takes on a personality of its own.  Make sure which center you’re most comfortable in, before joining.</p>
<p>Cleanliness</p>
<p>There is a wide variation among fitness centers, as far as cleanliness is concerned.  My experience has shown that hospital-based fitness facilities are generally the cleanest, which makes sense.  Again, you want to be somewhere, that you’re comfortable and safe, and where the owners take pride in their fitness center.</p>
<p>Again, all health/fitness centers are not created equal.  Find the one that fits your wants and needs, attend consistently and look and feel better, as you build on your personal fitness program.<br />

<p>If you were in a fix determining which fitness center is best suited to your fitness needs here are a few tips on deciding which one fits your requirements. Contrary to popular belief you do not have to spend all your hard earned bucks on fancy health clubs or fitness super malls or even buy yourself that expensive treadmill to lose those excess pounds or keep your body in shape.</p>
<p>Many fitness centers in town capitalize on the fact that many people believe that they will be more determined to stick to a fitness routine if they invest some cash in the program. Some fitness centers also sell their weight loss expertise to overweight individuals who lap up the sales talk like a kitten laps up milk. But do they really need to?</p>
<p>A fitness center is basically a place where you will find everything you need to lose weight or keep yourself fit. You do not need all the equipment they have to offer you. So look for a fitness center that has just what you need.</p>
<p>1. Decide what it is you need to meet your fitness targets. If you are into a regime to lose weight you will not need a fitness center that offers only treadmills and a few weights. You need expert advice on dieting as well.</p>
<p>2. Do your research and find which fitness centers are offering the most competitive rates. You will save yourself a few hard earned bucks and get yourself a better deal by researching the market for the best center.</p>
<p>3. Fix a budget and stick to it. Never let a physical fitness instructor or counselor tell you what you need. You fix the price and the plan. Though it is important to have a trained physical instructor guide you do not have to let them take over your fitness regime. A book or two will suffice when it comes to telling the instructor when he or she gets off and lets you decide how much you need to spend to get in shape.</p>
<p>4. Ask for a break-up of what you are paying for. Some fitness centers will offer you pool and sauna facilities and then when you have paid up they will ration you a very little time at the facilities. So make sure you know what you are paying for.</p>
<p>5. Look around. You are entitled to inspect the fitness facility. If you are paying for it you need to inspect it for cleanliness and ventilation. Do not pay if they are restricting you to certain areas. You must also inspect the machines and equipment for proper maintenance as a bad machine could cause you a lot of damage.</p>
<p>There is no such thing as the perfect fitness center. You just have to look for the one that has everything you need and not charging you for the equipment you do not need or are not going to use.</p>
